this past weekend we went camping and hiking around mount st. helens in washington. we had planned on going camping with some friends, not knowing exactly where we were going until we looked up the name of the camp for directions. deeann, our good friend lindsay, and i piled in the car and made the hour and a half drive up to the campsite.
it was a great little weekend trip of camping, hiking, off-roading in the jetta, and hanging out with some pretty cool people. check out some of the pictures here & here.
we have been thinking about making a trip to st. helens with our friend pete from seattle. now that we’ve been this close to this beautiful giant, we are that much more excited to get up on the rim as soon as we can manage. so pete, we’re still in if you are!
Oh, it is on. What’s your schedule like over the next month or so? I’ll be on vacation in the Midwest from Aug 2-11, but otherwise, I should be around for the most part.
I find it fascinating how the south side of the mountain (the side it looks like you were on) was totally untouched by the 1980 eruption, but the north side (where Spirit Lake is) still looks completely devastated even today. Gorgeous pics, by the way.
