i guess it’s that time of year. for the past week i’ve been coughing up phlegm and trying to ease some gnarly aches and pains, i finally feel like i may be on the tail end of it. this cold season has taken its toll on me. i even had to call in sick to work twice. you get the picture…it hasn’t been pretty.

anyways, i’m looking forward to this week and gearing up for some christmas fun. december, here we go!

a photo a day

a few friends and i have challenged each other to a photo a day until february. we are currently about 10 days or so into the challenge and it has been quite fun. i missed maybe 2 or three days already, but i’m trying to catch up. the hope is that we all become a little bit better with our photography, forcing ourselves not only to shoot more, but to become creative with what we’re shooting. so far it has been a pretty good time.

be sure to check this set at my flickr page to stay up to date on the picture of the day.

so a few weeks back, gabriel and i slept on the sidewalk in front of our downtown portland rei store along with about 60 or so other people. why, you might ask… why not?

rei garage sale, of course.

so…
it’s been quite some time since i’ve updated. i don’t have any good excuses other than life got in the way of my blogging.

the first week of september we moved in with some friends here in portland. we now live with four close friends in a beautiful house in north portland. i finished classes at western culinary institutes le cordon bleu program and have moved on to my internship at lovely hula hands just a few blocks from where we live. that is going quite well and i’m looking forward to what i will be learning there in the coming weeks. i’ll be with lovely hula hands until early to mid-february. that is when i officially graduate, however the ceremony isn’t until may. we’ve also spent our fair share of time out in the pumpkin patches and apple orchards of the willamette valley with many of our friends. to catch up on what we’ve been up to, check out our flickr site.

deeann has recently re-signed with her current hospital in the surgical intensive care unit doing three nights a week. that has been working out pretty well for her. she has also recently taken up knitting and seems to enjoy learning new stitches. i’m super pumped for her to have a hobby that she enjoys.

we’re starting to wind up for the holiday season. this fall has been quite possibly the most beautiful i’ve ever experienced. gorgeous, crisp, fall days with bright colors and nostalgic smells; it is one i will remember.
