Reclaiming Roots wins a 2007 Radish Award

our home grown group, {reclaiming roots} has won a radish award from the eastern iowa based radish magazine.

Reclaiming Roots is a new eastern-Iowa based organization dedicated to beautifying neighborhoods and bringing communities together. Three friends were inspired to create the group after a living room conversation about things they wanted done in their own neighborhoods.

Popeye vs. Climate Changeeveryone’s favorite sailor man is back into the business saving lives. a renewable energy company from the UK, Ecotricity, is bringing out the big guns to help fight climate change. their new ads featuring the 1930s cartoon character will be starting circulation in the UK tomorrow.

“it’s less of an advert really than a statement, something to get the attention of the people, but with a serious message despite it’s non-serious approach,” says Ecotricity spokesman, Dale Vince. “We need to fight climate change as if it was a deadly enemy – because it’s real. It’s the biggest threat we face in the world today and I’m glad to say growing numbers of people are starting to recognize this.”

go to reclaimingroots.org and check out our next project!  there’s a lot going on right now getting this project going.  so get over to reclaimingroots.org and get registered for this project!

there are going to be two volunteer groups.  one for the morning and one for the evening.  we’ll be working with the grant wood community in iowa city to help them reclaim their neighborhood.  there will be all kinds of yard and house work to go around!  check it out!
