as fast as it went and as tired as i am today, this weekend was a beautiful one.
friday was a blur of crazy running from here to there getting things lined up for our {reclaiming roots} project saturday morning. we were at the project bright and early to prepare for the long day of work. soon people started rolling in, checking in, and a buzz began to fill the air. i honestly didn’t know what to expect from the rest of the day. it seemed as though we planned so much for this, but now that it was here i was convinced we didn’t plan enough. when we started the work people were interacting, meeting and smiling with each other. that buzz continued and you could see on people’s faces the feeling of accomplishment. sweat beading off of every face, exhausted, but proud. cleaning up this ravine was satisfying, but doing it with people i didn’t know and getting to know them in the process, rubbing elbows with people to have a positive impact on a community — this is what makes it priceless. that is beauty.
if you get a chance, go down to roosevelt ravine behind roosevelt elementary. i’m convinced you’ll see beauty.
